Abstract
1369496 Spark erosion VYSKUMNY USTAV MECHANIZACIE A AUTOMATIZACIE 18 Oct 1971 48430/71 Heading B3V [Also in Division C7] In an electric machining process, e.g. electrolytic or electric-spark machining process, wherein the working medium is a mixture of gas and liquid and the tool advances relative to the workpiece the supply of liquid to the working gap is controlled, via templet, by the current position of the tool; the controlling surface of templet determining a programmed rate of flow of the liquid through the working gap. As shown a mixture of gas 18 and electrolyte 25 are supplied to electrode tool 16 via mixer 15 for electrochemical machining of the workpiece 17; the tool being supported by piston 14 within frame 10. Attached to the piston 14 is templet 20 against which is biased pin 27 attached to piston 31 within frame 30; the arrangement being such that the position of the piston 31 relative to the frame 30 is dependent upon the depth of machining of the workpiece currently achieved, and the said position of the piston 31 apportions the electrolyte 25 supplied via pipe 26 to the chamber 35 between passages 38 and 39 through the piston to pipes 24 and 22 and hence to the mixer 15 and to discharge respectively; thereby controlling the rate of supply of electrolyte to the tool.
