Abstract
1368846 Welding; jointing FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 8 June 1973 [18 April 1972 12 June 1972] 17934/72 and 27428/72 Headings B3R and B3V In repairing a damaged (split, cracked and/or eroded) mould, particularly an ingot mould, studs are secured to the mould by drawn arc welding (e.g. using a magazine fed gun) and metal is secured to the studs such that it covers and/or fills the damaged portion of the mould. In one embodiment, studs are welded at random to the surface of the damaged portion and the latter is filled with molten metal which anchors on the studs. In another embodiment, threaded studs are welded to the mould outside the damaged portion and a metal plate is secured by nuts to the studs so as to cover the damaged portion.
