Abstract

1368558 Bottle filling device HORIX MFG CO 27 Feb 1973 [22 March 1972] 9469/73 Heading B8T A container filling device has a filling tube 1 and a hollow nozzle 3 formed of concentric porous walls 8 and 9 spaced apart to form a chamber 10. In one form the walls 8, 9 comprise screens of fine mesh and are supported by a pair of vertical struts 13, Fig. 4 (not shown), which join an end wall 11 and a threaded ring 12. When liquid is delivered under pressure the spacing between the porous side walls reduces the velocity of the liquid and makes the pattern of flow smoother so that pressure can be increased without foaming and bottles can be filled more rapidly. An outer vacuum tube 6 has the lower end spaced above the nozzle to remove excess liquid during the filling operation. In a modified version of the nozzle the inner side wall may be a hollow porous metal cylinder (15), Fig. 5 (not shown), made from sintered metal powder.
