1368382 Diisocyanato-esters BAYER AG 5 Dec 1972 [7 Dec 1971] 56044/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds having the general formula wherein R 1 is a straight or branched chain alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R 2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a halogen atom; R 3 is a hydrogen atom or an isocyanate group, and R 4 is a hydrogen atom or an isocyanate group, provided that R 2 is not a hydrogen atom when R 3 is an isocyanate group and R 3 and R 4 are not both hydrogen atoms. They may be prepared by phosgenating an amine of the formula where R 1 1 and R 2 1 are the same as R 1 and R 2 ; R 3 <SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or an amino group, and R 4 <SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or an amino group, provided that R 2 <SP>1</SP> is not a hydrogen atom when R 3 <SP>1</SP> is an amino group and R 3 <SP>1</SP> and R 4 <SP>1</SP> are not both hydrogen atoms. The compounds of the invention may be reacted with polyhydroxyl compounds to form polyurethane resins.
