Abstract

1367234 Vehicle headlamp PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 June 1972 [21 June 1971] 28313/72 Heading F4R A vehicle headlamp includes a drying agent over which the vapour pressure at the highest operating temperature of the lamp is lower than or corresponds to the vapour pressure of water at 0‹ C. e.g. a water vapour pressure of 0À5 Torr. The particular type of drying agent, a molecular sieve, ensures that any condensation within the lamp will be as ice and thus not effect the reflector. The drying agent removes moisture that may leak into the lamp and is sufficient to last the life-time of the lamp. The headlamp comprises a steel reflector 1 coated internally with aluminium and has a glass cover 2 fixed thereto with epoxy resin 5. The rear plate 3 is also fixed with epoxy resin 6 and accommodates a halogen incandescent lamp 4. The drying agent is located in trough 7.
