Abstract

1365750 Apparatus for loading a machine with stacked laminar material; stacking sheets R MOHR 4 July 1972 [9 July 1971] 31263/72 Headings B8C and B8R An apparatus for loading a machine 1 with stacked laminar material comprises a support 6 mounted for translatory movement on a lifting column 2 for carrying the stacked material to the machine and a device 10, 11 for scanning the stacked material and controlling the position of the support 6 so that, in operation, a part of the stacked material selected by the device 10, 11, is automatically taken up by the support and transferred to a machine table 20. As shown, a stack 23 of uncut paper 29 for unloading for passage through a cutting machine 1 and forming a stack of cut paper 29, is loaded on a pallet 28 and a table 6 is initially aligned with the working table 20 of the cutting machine 1 in which position, shown in dotted lines, a light ray 22 from the device 11 which is vertically moveable with the table 6, is interrupted by the stack of uncut paper 23. Upon the actuation of a switch 19 the table is raised until the light ray 22 becomes continuous whereupon the table 6, now in the full line position, is first stopped and then moved toward the stack 23 until a light ray 24, mounted between lips 13 at the forward end of the table 6, is interrupted by the stack 23 and the movement of the table 6 is stopped. The table 6 is then moved upwardly again until the lips 13 contact an abutment plate 26 and switches 15 on the lips are depressed so that the table 6 moves into the stack 23 to separate a partial stack 27 which is drawn by rollers 12 on to the table 6. After the plate 26 has been retracted the table 6 is withdrawn from the stack and lowered until it is flush with the working table 20 whereupon the partial stack, shown as 27, is moved on to the table 20 by unloaders, not shown. After the partial stack 21 has been cut in the machine it is transferred, by means not shown, on to a vertically and horizontally displaceable table 7 which is aligned with the table 20. As initiated by the associated switch 19 the table 7 is moved vertically until a scanning ray 30 reaches the upper edge of the stack 29 as controlled by a limit switch, the table now being moved horizontally until it is over the stack 29 whereupon the movement is stopped by a limit switch. A hinged plate 16 is then pivoted downwardly from its upward position against a stop 17, and the table 7 is moved horizontally backwards so that, due to the plate 16, the cut material drops in position on to the stack 29.
