1365307 Shaft seals GEORGE ANGUS & CO Ltd 2 Dec 1971 [16 Sept 1970] 44293/70 Heading F2B A seal for a shock absorber comprises an annulus of resiliently deformable material, such as nitrile rubber, having a thin peripheral fin 7 of .06 in. (1.5 mm.) maximum thickness projecting from the static sealing portion by .024 in. (0.6 mm.) minimum designed to be clamped as a high or intense interference fit between nominally meeting surfaces of seating components 8, 9. The seal may be made by compression moulding several of them in a multicavity die such that they are joined together by a web, the web forming the material for the fins 7 when the seals are punched or cut out.
