Abstract

1365024 Dental impression material MARRICKVILLE HOLDINGS Ltd 23 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 48701/72 Headings C3U and C3N A composition for taking dental impressions comprises (1) an alkali metal alginate, (2) pure synthetic calcium sulphate which is a mixture of calcium sulphate dihydrate and calcium sulphate hemihydrate, (3) sodium silicofluoride, (4) sodium meta silicate or tetra sodium pyrophosphate or a mixture thereof and as a filler (5) finely powdered diatomaceous earth. The composition may also contain sodium fluoride, zinc fluoride and magnesium oxide. The preferred alginate is potassium alginate. The composition may be prepared by mixing all the specified materials apart from the diatomaceous earth by grinding in a ball mill and then blending the ground materials with the diatomaceous earth in a ribbon type mixer.
