1364617 Catalytic hydrocarbon convertion/ catalyst regeneration apparatus INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS 13 Nov 1972 [16 Nov 1971 7 Feb 1972 13 March 1972] 21904/73 Divided out of 1364616 Heading B1F An apparatus for the continuous conversion of hydrocarbons in the presence of a granular catalyst comprising a carrier and at least one metal selected from groups VIa, VIIa and VIII comprises at least two adjacent vertical reactors (e.g. 4 in Fig. 1, designated 1, 2, 3, 4) connected in series containing the catalyst in the form of moving beds, a catalyst regeneration device 26, heating means for the reaction mixture as it is passed from one chamber to the next, gas lift means for conveying the catalyst from the bottom part of each chamber to the upper part of the next chamber, e.g. 8, lift means 23 to pass the catalyst from the last chamber to the regeneration device, and a compartment (not shown in Fig. 1) for reducing the regenerated catalyst before it is recycled to reactor 1. Preferably recycle H 2 is used in the gas lift and an accumulatordecanter 24 is located above the regenerator. Each chamber may be larger than the preceeding one.
