Abstract

1364395 Bis-(4-aminocyclohexyl)-methane E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 9 Jan 1973 [10 Jan 1972] 1225/73 Heading C2C A process for bringing an initial composition comprising one or more of the stereoisomers of bis - (4 - aminocyclohexyl) - methane present in non-equilibrium isomer concentration as the 1 : 1 salt of a saturated alpha, omega dicarboxylic acid closer to the equilibrium isomer concentration comprises heating said initial composition at elevated temperature and pressure in the presence of gaseous H 2 and a ruthenium catalyst. The process is preferably carried out in the presence of an inert organic solvent. The process may be carried out in a batchwise operation or in a continuous or semi-continuous operation. Specified dicarboxylic acids are adipic, pimelic, suberic, azelaic, sebacic and dodecanedioic acids. An example is given which illustrates the process.
