1364344 Vegetable cutter and grater DITOETUDES RECHERCHES ET DIFFUSIONS COMMERCIALES 22 May 1972 24054/72 Heading A4C [Also in Division B8] A vegetable cutter for cutting successive slices of a vegetable comprises a frame member 1 supporting an electric motor 14 and a driving shaft 10 which drives a removable working member 31 surrounded by a circular flange 23 integral with the lower side of a cover 17 which is removable and pivotally mounted on the member 1, the member 1 having a peripheral wall 6 co-operating with the flange 23 to define a cutting chamber 24, the cover 17 supporting two feeding ducts 47, (48) Fig. 2 (not shown) and the chamber 24 having a discharge spout 25 and an ejection plate 29. A mounting 15 fixed to the member 1 supports the motor, and the bottom 7 of the chamber 24 contains bearings 8, 9 for the driving shaft 10, the shaft being joined to the working member by a bayonet connection 30, 34. The working member, Fig. 4, has two apertures 36 each having a removable blade 37 at its edge. A stationary plate 55, Fig. 7, having intercrossed knives, 57, 58 may be supported by the wall 6 below the working member so that material cut by the member 31 is forced through the grating formed by the knives and is further subdivided. The cover includes a yoke 52 to which is hinged a lever 51 carrying a plate 50 for pushing food into the feeding ducts. Another form of working member is a grater 66, Fig. 8, which may be mounted on the portion 28 of the shaft 10 and comprises radially spaced rows of holes which are offset from one another, Figs. 10-14 (not shown). An electrical contact 53 may be contacted by a finger 54 of the cover 17 so that when the cover is lifted the motor receives no current. A device for varying the cross-section of the feed ducts may be used, Figs. 15-19 (not shown). A ramming feed device 49 may also be used, having at each end a rammer with a substantially spherical recess.
