Abstract
1363906 Laminated springs R SOHNATMEIER [trading as HEINRICH SCHOMACKER & CO] 2 Nov 1971 [6 Nov 1970] 50843/71 Heading F2S A spring, e.g. for a lorry or trailer, has a number of leaves 2 each having a cranked portion 5 so that a surface 10 bears against and supports an adjacent leaf, there being gaps 9 between the leaves because of inserts of metal or synthetic material interposed at the central fixing point 3. As shown, the ends 11 are reduced by rolling and, in the unloaded state indicated, the bearing surface 10 is small but this (and thus damping-friction) gradually increases with loading until at full load, the leaves are horizontal and the whole of the top surface of each of the ends 11 supports an upper leaf. Some at least of the ends 11 may be unreduced and differ in length and be flat against an upper leaf at all loads. The leaves 2 may be of rectilinear outline or of parabolic design.
