Abstract

1363256 Mines DOW CHEMICAL CO 3 Nov 1971 [4 Nov 1970] 51114/71 Heading E1F A suspension is injected into an underground void 10 at such a speed that particles settle to form a mound 17. The mound causes the rate of flow of the suspension to increase due to constriction in area of flow so that the mound extends laterally. Sand 14 is mixed with water or brine in a mechanical mixer 13 and the resultant suspension is pumped by a pump P down a cased hole 11 into the void. The velocity at which the suspension separates may be found experimentally.
