Abstract

1363112 Metallurgical ladles USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 25 May 1971 [15 June 1970] 7607/74 Divided out of 1363111 Heading F4B [Also in Division B3] In metal-casting apparatus comprising a bottom-pour vessel with an outlet controlled by a sliding gate 16, a mould, and shrouding 23 (18) for shielding the stream of metal, e.g. steel, flowing from the gate, a shrouding portion 23 supported by a mounting on the vessel bottom has a portion 31 adjacent the gate and yieldable downwardly and outwardly (to allow movement of the gate 16 when it bears adherent solidified metal); a second portion (18) has an opening in telescopic sealing engagement with the portion 23. The apparatus is as described in Specification 1,363,111.
