Abstract

1362575 Electro-photographic copying MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 27 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 44869/71 Heading G2H An electrostatic latent image of an original 20 is formed on a photo-conductive plate 22, transferred to a copy sheet 57, developed and fixed. As shown, plate 22 is fixed to a glass sheet 15 supporting the original 20, and this whole assembly 25 moves left so that plate 22 is charged by a device 46 and progressively exposed to original 20 via an optical system 37, 36, 38. When the plate 22 reaches its extreme left position it releases a roller 81 allowing a lever 79 to pivot anti-clockwise to drop rollers 77 on to a stack 72 to feed a sheet 57 into position between plate 22 and an earthed conductive roller 50. A member 21 on plate 22 then trips a switch 129 which reverses the direction of assembly 25 and energizes a solenoid (54) Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown) which moves roller 50 to press sheet 57 against plate 22, the backing of which is also earthed, to transfer the latent image from the plate to the sheet. The leading edge of sheet 57 is guided around roller 50 by a finger 60 pivoted on plate 22, and then passes through developing and fixing stations. As plate 22 continues to move right, a lamp 70 removes residual charge.
