Abstract
136,237. Gee. F. W. Dec. 7, 1918. Food for animals.-A cooked food for pigs, poultry, &c. is obtained from the garbage or swill from hotels &c. by cooking at a temperature above the boiling-point until the excess of moisture is driven off, and then mixing with pulverized farinaceous material, such as baker's sweepings, and baking the doughy mass thus obtained. The proportions of vegetable and animal or fish offals in the garbage may be varied, and meat meal, fish meal, slaughterhouse offal, &c. may be used. The farinaceous material may amount to about 20-25 per cent. by weight of the cooked garbage. The baked cakes may be scalded and fed like swill, or may be ground.
