Abstract
1362184 Coated steel products BRITISH STEEL CORP 17 June 1971 [18 June 1970] 29641/70 Heading B2E [Also in Division C4] Electrical steel sheet is provided with an electrically insulating coating applied as a composition consisting of an aqueous mixture of sodium or potassium silicate plus calcium silicate, in the proportions 100 p.b.w. sodium or potassium silicate, 5-200 p.b.w. calcium silicate and 10-2000 p.b.w. water, the silica: alkali metal oxide ratio in the sodium or potassium silicate being 1.65-398:1. The coating may be applied by a grooved roller to form a film of 1-2 ten thousandths of an inch in thickness which may be dried at 150-800‹C, e.g. 300‹C.
