Abstract

1362075 Separate feet MARDON ILLING- WORTH Ltd 5 Dec 1972 [8 Jan 1972] 969/72 Heading A4U [Also in Division B8] A leg 12 is detachably clamped to a base 10 of a container such as a box of corrugated or solid board or a pallet by a device having a body 18 and a flange 19, the leg and the device having teeth 16, 20 which adjustably inter-engage so that the distance between the flange 19 and the leg 12 can be varied to suit the thickness of the base 10. The teeth 20 are flexible and so can be resiliently forced past the tooth 16 by a ratchet-type action. The flange 19 may have a diameter which reaches as far as the side wall of the leg, andthe body 18 may be slit to make it flexible so as to facilitate the tooth inter-engagement. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, (not shown), the top of the leg has a recess into which the base 10 is deformed by the flange 19 and which also receives the flange 19. In a third embodiment, Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown), the leg has an upper flange having slots and is attached to a base having complementary slots by elongate clamping plates having flanges which are passed through the aligned slots and have flexible teeth for adjustably engaging a tooth in the slot in the leg flange. Each leg and each clamping device may be a moulding of plastics material, e.g. polystyrene or polyethylene. Each leg may be internally stiffened.
