1361940 Purifying dienes STERLITAMAXKY OPYTNO-PROMYSHLENNY ZAVOD PO PROIZVODSTVU IZOPRENOVOGO KAUCHUKA 11 Oct 1972 46988/72 Heading C5E Dienes are purified by removing acetylenic impurities by hydrogenation over a catalyst which has been washed prior to the hydrogenation stage with a saturated hydrocarbon in the liquid phase such as propane, butane, isopentane or cyclohexane. Suitable hydrogenation catalysts are nickel or kieselguhr, Raney nickel, Pd or Al 2 O 3 and nickel oxide and copper on Al 2 O 3 , which may be activated before the washing by passing H 2 therethrough at 250-320‹ C. Examples describe the purification of isoprene, butadiene and hexadiene-1,3 using as catalyst wash liquids isopentane, butane and cyclohexane respectively.
