Abstract

1361874 Collapsible trailers R A THACKRAY 9 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 51995/71 Heading B7B A collapsible road trailer comprises a central fore-and-aft beam 1 extending into a tow bar and to which each side the base 4 is hinged to be folded upwards, with a surrounding wall 13 having an outwardly directed rim 14 whichco-operates with an inwardly opening channel section 11 on each edge of the base; the wall having a pair of folding sides with hinges 17 to enable folding of the wall concertina fashion for fitting into the space between the folded base 4. Channel sections 5 are spot welded to the base 4 for reinforcement and have bolted thereto plates 23 for mounting a torque bar 24 of a wheel assembly 6. The hinges 17 of the walls 13 are braced by channel members 16 which slide over a rim 15. A square bracket (not shown) fits over the rim 14 at the outer ends of the base hinges for stiffening. A pair of small wheels (not shown) may be mounted at the rear of the beam 1 to enable manual trailing of the folded parts.
