1361290 Termite trap and processing plant A M OLUSANYA 14 June 1971 27782/71 Headings AIM and A2B A mobile insect trapping machine attracts termites by lights 20 and sucks them into a collecting duct 18 via ports 14 by means of a suction fan 6 driven by an electric motor 8. The insects are delivered by duct 18 to a cyclone collector 5 which discharges them into a collecting compartment 26. The trapping unit is detachable from a road vehicle 2, and the fan motor and lights are powered by a petrol generator. In the termite processing plant of Fig. 7 the termites are blown into a storage tank 8 and thence through a wing stripper 12 to a cyclone collector 14. A conveyor 16 carries the insects past a suction duct 18, which removes the wings to a tank 19, and thence to a washer 122 containing spray nozzles 123. A conveyer 127 transfers the insects to a drier 128 containing fans 131. The dried insects are transferred by a screw conveyer 130 to a roaster/ cooler 132 and roasted at 150‹F by fan circulated air followed by cooling in another compartment before discharge into a storage tank 136. To produce a powdered product the insects are passed to a pulveriser 140 and the material is blown to a dust collector 148 before packaging at 150. Alternatively, to produce pellet form, the material is transferred by a screw conveyor 142 to a pellet mill 152, and, after unpelletised material is removed by a vibrating conveyor 155 and returned via conveyer 154 to the pellet mill, the pellets are packaged at 156.
