Abstract

1361179 Emulsifying agents BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 14 June 1971 [16 June 1970] 29020/70 Heading B1V [Also in Division Cl] An emulsifying composition for forming oilin-water emulsions comprises a condensation product of 1 mol of one or more long chain (i.e. C11-C20) aliphatic alcohols with 1.5 to 6.0 mols of ethylene oxide dissolved in a refined kerosine containing less than 5% by vol. of aromatic compounds. The aliphatic alcohols specified are lauryl, myristyl, cetyl, oleyl and stearyl. Alcohol mixtures may be obtained by hydrolysis of sperm oil. The composition may contain an alcohol containing up to 3C atoms (e.g. isopropyl alcohol) as a solubilising agent. Reference has been directed by the comptroller to Specification 1205235.
