Abstract
1361059 Electro-photographic copiers G A F CORP 10 Aug 1971 [19 Aug 1970] 37553/71 Headings G2A and G2H Moving copy paper 18 is exposed to the image of a stationary original on a platen 146 illuminated by xenon flash-tubes 152 in parabolic reflectors 150. As described, the copy paper roll 18 is stored adjacent a humidity control (26) Fig. 1 (not shown) and a heater (28). The paper is cut at 46; charged by a discharge device 54 having a suction or blow inlet (60) to position the paper and remove dust; exposed at 56 via a lens 164 and adjustable mirror 170; pre-treated at 72 with toner-free liquid; developed by liquid dispersed toner in a tray 104 under the influence of a metal or metallized plastics electrode 108; and fixed by a fan 130 and I.R. lamps 136, 139, lamps 136 being permanently on and the other lamp 139 being thermostatically controlled. The paper trips switches to actuate the cutter 46 and lamps 152 according to the size of copy to be made, the size of copy also determining whether a baffle (50) is positioned to mask part of the exposure station. Paper feed also controls toner replenishment. Provision is made for pre-setting the number of copies to be made and for adjusting the voltage of the xenon tubes. Malfunction detectors 42, 244, 246, 248 switch off the copy paper feed and the fixing lamps if a malfunction is detected. Warning lamps indicate absence of paper, developer &c.
