Abstract
1360169 Electro-phoretic coating PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 Aug 1972 [18 Aug 1971] 38630/72 Heading C7B A helically wound heater wire for an indirectly heated cathode is covered with an insulating layer to a given distance from the ends of the wire, e.g. to enable its bare ends to be welded to current supply wires, by clamping the ends of the wire 1 in a holder 2, immersing the wire to the desired depth A-A in an electro-phoresis suspension 4 while applying an ana-phoretic potential between the wire and an electrode, e.g. a container 3 for the suspension, until the liquid in capillary spaces in the heater wire has reached its highest position, and then applying an electro-phoresis potential between the wire and electrode e.g. by changing switch 6. The suspension may be alumina suspended in methanol to which is added copper nitrate and colophonium solutions.
