1360135 Styryl-v-triazole derivatives CIBAGEIGY AG 24 March 1972 [31 March 1971] 14044/72 Heading C2C Novel styryl-v-triazole derivatives having the general formula wherein D 1 is an optionally substituted benztriazolylphenyl, benztriazolyldiphenyl, naphthotriazolylphenyl, naphthotriazolyldiphenyl, benzoxazolylphenyl, benzoxazolylstyryl, phenyloxadiazolylphenyl, benzofurylphenyl or benzothienylphenyl radical or its dioxide, or a dibenzofuryl or optionally N-substituted and/or ring-substituted benzimidazolylphenyl radical; X 1 is hydrogen, halogen, methyl or optionally substituted phenyl; R 1 and R 2 denote hydrogen, halogen, (C 1 -C 6 ) alkyl or (C 1 -C 6 ) alkoxy or together form a fused benzene ring, may be prepared by eliminating one mole of water from a compound of the formula wherein X<SP>1</SP> 1 is hydrogen methyl or optionally substituted phenyl. The novel compounds may be used as optical brightening agents.
