1359071 Watch bracelets H KALINSKY 31 July 1972 [12 Nov 1971] 35692/72 Heading A3H [Also in Division E2] A buckle comprises a channel shaped housing 20 attachable at one end to a band section 10, and ratchet 40 within the housing, a plate 34 slidably retained within the housing 20, a lug 42 on one end of the plate engageable with a projection 36 on one side wall 24 of the housing to limit outward sliding movement of the plate, a plate 46 hinged to the plate 34 and having a hook 48 for engaging another band section 12, the hook having a nose 52 for snap engaging with a lug 50 projecting from the plate 34 when the plate 46 is folded over the plate 34, a pawl 56 engageable with the ratchet a resilient arm 54 connecting the pawl to the plate 34 with the pawl out of engagement with the ratchet, and a lug 58 on the plate 46 engageable with the pawl to depress it into engagement with the ratchet when the plate 46 snap engages the plate 34. To secure the band to a wrist, a cover 30, pivoted to the housing and closing the housing, and pivoted to uncover the housing plate 46, is pivoted clear of the housing and the plate 34 is slid out of the housing until the lug 42 engages the nearer projection 36, the wrist band is placed around the wrist and the hook 48 engages in an opening 18 in the band section 12. Plate 46 is then pivoted to snap engage the lug 50 and the lug 58 depresses the pawl 56 to engage the ratchet. The plates 34 and 46 are then slid into the housing to adjust for the size of the wrist and the cover is lowered over the housing.
