Abstract

1358677 Cameras EASTMAN KODAK CO 22 Feb 1973 [28 Feb 1972 14 March 1972] 8735/73 Heading G2A A camera comprises a photo-cell 26' normally exposed to scene light and connected to a galvanometer 28' for indicating and/or controlling exposure g and a battery check arrangement comprising a light 74 connectable to the battery 32' and having a luminosity dependent on the battery voltage and means for effecting illumination of the photo-cell 26' solely by the light 74 so that the galvanometer 28' indicates battery voltage. Preferably light 74 is visible in a viewfinder 12' and a calibrated resistor R 3 connected to light 74 is adjustable to extinguish it, the value of R 3 then indicating the remaining life of the battery. As shown, galvanometer 28' controls a lens diaphragm 71 and an exposure indicating flag 30' visible in the viewfinder 12'. When a button 44' is pressed, it blocks scene light from photocell 26' and closes a switch 36' to connect light 74 to battery 32'. Viewfinder mask 20' may bear a scale or a series of indicator apertures for co-operating with the image of flag 30'. Preferably a blue filter is located between light 74 and photo-cell 26'. Light 74 may be a diode or a tungsten lamp. Photo-cell 26' may be photovoltaic or CdS.
