Abstract

1358316 Supporting, joining and insulating pipes ETERNITROR AB 15 June 1971 27912/71 Headings F2P and F2G A plurality of heat insulated lines are supported in a culvert on pipe supports located in longitudinally spaced apart relationship within the culvert, the lines being separated from each other by heat insulating material in the form of inserts which extend between adjacent pipe supports to divide the culvert into longitudinal compartments between said supports, the culvert being formed by concentric pipes separated by a cellular plastics layer of insulant. As shown in Fig. 3 the heat insulating insert 17 may be of H- or I-cross-section to form four compartments within the culvert 1-3. The pipe supports (18, Fig. 1, not shown) comprise cellular plastics partitions which engage the walls of pipe 2 and which have apertures for the "lines" 13-16. The "lines" 13-14 may be for fluid, and "lines" 15, 16 for fluid or electricity. In a similar embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown) two pipes (10), (11) are supported within the culvert on supports (18) and are separated by a diametral insert (12) of cellular material. Fig. 4 shows a joint for the culvert wherein the ends of the inner culvert pipes 2 are engaged by halt shells 4, 5 which are secured by binding, gluing or the like. An outer sleeve 8 is then slid over the join, the sealing rings 6, 7 being "rolled in" during the sliding of the sleeve. Materials.-The outer culvert pipe 1 is preferably of asbestos cement, while the inner pipe 2 may be of asbestos cement, steel, p.v.c., or polyethylene. The cellular insulant 3 is preferably p.v.c. or polyurethane.
