1358036 Aerial reconnaissance television camera arrangement GRUNDIG EMV-ELEKTRO-MECHANISCHE VERSUCHSANSTALT MAX GRUNDIG 23 March 1973 [23 March 1972] 14184/73 Heading H4F Aerial reconnaissance apparatus comprises a television camera 3, and a mirror 2 inclined to and pivoted in a stepwise manner about the cameras optical axis 4 by means of a programmecontrolled stepping motor (not shown) driving spindle 1. In addition a code signal denotive of the instantaneous pivotal position of the mirror is generated and transmitted with the television picture signal developed by the camera. The code signals preferably comprises digital code pulses which are added to the television signals within the blanking intervals and recorded in oblique tracks on a magnetic tape. The code signals enable the pictures such as 11 to 15, 21 to 25 to be correlated. The code signals may also contain information regarding the time of reconnaissance, aircraft flight information and information about the strip of land covered. A high-speed shutter may be located in front of the camera which is opened only while the mirror is stationary between two stepping movements. The mirror may also be arranged to pivotally move about an axis perpendicular to the direction of aircraft flight to compensate for movement over the terrain of the aircraft i.e. the mirror may be rocked to hold the image of the terrain stationary during observation, the shutter only being opened during the rocking movement and not during its return movement. Individual picture signals on the magnetic tape may be located with the aid of the code signal or additional information on the tape margin.
