Abstract

1357903 Introducing liquid into compressed gas CLAYTON DEWANDRE CO Ltd 5 April 1972 [5 May 1971] 13255/71 Heading B1R A device for introducing antifreeze liquid into a compressed air system containing a compressor, reservoir, compressor unloader means and governor valve responsive to governer pressure comprises a conduit 2 adapted to be connected to the compressed air system, a cylindrical chamber 3a, 3b communicating with the conduit via a spring biassed non-return valve 5 and with a source of the liquid 7, a piston 11 displaceable in the chamber under air pressure to cut off the source of liquid 7 from the chamber and to eject the liquid already in the chamber into the conduit via the non-return valve. The supply of liquid from the source to the chamber is controlled by a tilt valve 8, normally open (as shown) so that the chamber is full of liquid. When the piston 11 is actuated by compressed air from duct 10, the stem 8a of the tilt valve is released by a groove 13 in the piston and the valve 8 seals the chamber from the liquid source. Continued movement of the piston ejects the liquid remaining in the chamber past the valve 5. The stroke of the piston may be adjusted by means of a spacer member 14 and thumbscrew 15.
