Abstract

1357892 Cable &c ties BOWTHORPEHELLERMANN Ltd 6 July 1971 [16 May 1970] 23807/70 Heading E2B A one-piece cable tie of plastics material comprises an elongate flexible strap 10 having at one end thereof a head 11 formed with an eye 13 therethrough in a direction transverse to the plane of the strap, a pawl 16 disposed in the eye and connected to the web by at least one flexible web 15 permitting pivotal movement of the pawl about an axis transverse to the strap, at least one transverse tooth 20 on the pawl, a series of transverse serrations 21 on one side of the strap such that when the free end of the strap is passed through the eye the teeth on the pawl co-operate with the serrations to prevent withdrawal movement of the strap, and a tail piece 26 extending from the pawl in the direction of the strap and arranged for pressure applied thereto to pivot the pawl to disengage the pawl teeth from the serrations. As shown, the strap has plain marginal portions 22a for engagement with guide shoulders 13a, and the strap has an opening 27 to allow rocking of the pawl the tooth 20 of which may be adjacent the face 18 thereof which face may be flush with, inset from or proud of the face 19 of the head. The tailpiece may project angularly to the face 18 of the pawl.
