Abstract

1357783 Gas washer CARRIER DRYSYS Ltd 11 July 1972 [2 3July 1971] 34728/71 Heading B1R Apparatus for treating a gas with a liquid comprises an elongate casing 1 enclosing an axially extending pipe formed of a centre portion 5 and coupling portions 11 spaced to form arcuate slots 12 whereby washing liquid admitted to the pipe under pressure from a pipe 8 is sprayed in the form of curtains 2 across the casing to clean the gas stream 13. The coupling portions 11 of the central pipe are axially adjustable on a threaded rod 4 by means of nuts 6 and connecting spokes 7, to vary the width of the slots 12. The coupling portions may alternatively be adjustable along the sides of a bar Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), or the central pipe may be integrally formed with slots (55), (56), (57), (58) cut from its periphery in different angular positions, Figs. 11 to 15 (not shown). A cylindrical perforated baffle (50) or frusto conical baffles (52) may encircle the central pipe, Figs. 4 to 7 (not shown). A moisture eliminator 14 may be provided downstream of the central pipe.
