Abstract
1357522 Antistatic coated films KODAK Ltd 24 May 1971 [23 Feb 1970] 8598/70 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions C3 and G2] A polymeric article has a surface layer of a polymer having recurring units having the formula: in which A is a hydrogen atom or alkali metal atom. X is -CH 2 - in which Z is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, Y is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, M is a group -O- or -NH-, n is 1 to 4, and B is a polar group -SO 2 L, -SO 3 L or -PO 2 L in which L is an alkali metal atom as antistatic agent. Suitable articles are films of nylon, cellulose acetate and polyethylene terephthalate. Examples of such polymers are copolymers of styrene with maleic anhydride or methyl vinyl ether. The coating may be applied as a solution by dipping or airknife and may have a resistivity <10<SP>9</SP> ohms/ square.
