Abstract

1356966 Waveguide couplings NIPPON KOKAN KK 24 May 1971 [25 May 1970] 16734/71 Heading H1W A coupling for circular waveguides 1, 2 comprises cylindrical spacers 3, 4 screwed on to the ends of the waveguides, a sleeve 10 co-operating with the spacers to hold the waveguide together, and rings 6, 7 screwed into the ends of the holding sleeve. The sleeve 10 engages spacer 4 by means of screw threads 14, and spacer 3 by means of annular abutment 13. Rings 6, 7 locate and compress annular seals 18, 19. A further seal in the form of an 0-ring 9 is located between the sleeve and the waveguide 2. The various parts are provided with accurately machined surfaces A, B, C for correct, rigid location of the waveguides. A modification is described (Fig. 2, not shown) in which the spacer 3 is provided with a threaded lock ring.
