Abstract

1356472 Making gas turbine blades BENDIXCORP 22 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 49274/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division F1] A transpiration cooled laminate, e.g. for turbine blades or shrouding, comprises layers 12, 14, 16 diffusion bonded together. The layer 12 is of porous mesh formed of wound diffusion bonded layers of nickel-chrome alloy wire, or of woven wire. Layer 14 is of high temperature super alloy having openings 18 formed by photoetching or die stamping. Layers 12, 14, 16 are bonded together while still in sheet form and are then shaped to the blade profile before an end cap (28, Fig. 2, not shown) is electron beam welded in position.
