Abstract

1356251 Lamps NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 19 April 1971 [19 March 1970] 13349/70 Heading F4R [Also in Division G1] An instrument for use in the measurement of the lighting of a point has a support member 23 movable vertically on columns 21 and pivotable about an axis 24, the member 23 bearing a torch unit 25 including a light source 26 and a reflector 27. The reflector 27 can be turned about a vertical axis by rotating the torch unit 25 in relation to a scale 28, and can be turned about the axis 24 in relation to a scale 34 by rotating a ring 29 coupled by a worm and worm-wheel engagement 30, threaded sleeve 31, cam 32 and followers 33 to the reflector. The instrument also has a toe-mark (20) on its base (19) and a setting knob (35) to enable the torch unit (25) to be held so that its axis passes accurately through the toe-mark (20).
