Abstract
1355730 Automatic speed control GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 14 Nov 1972 [2 March 1972] 52535/72 Heading G3R [Also in Division F1] A control system for a two-shaft directreversing gas turbine engine having a power turbine shaft with forward and reverse blade sections and having forward and reverse nozzle blades for separately and respectively controlling flow therethrough comprises (i) means 28 for controlling flow of fuel to the gas turbine in accordance with a selected power setting (ii) a nozzle control 20 providing a first signal in response to selected operating conditions of the engine for dividing available power between the turbine shafts and representing a desired total nozzle opening of both forward and reverse nozzle blades (iii) means for providing a second signal representing a deviation between a desired load shaft speed and the actual load shaft speed measured by sensor 12 (iv) means for dividing the first signal into a forward nozzle command signal and a reverse nozzle command signal in proportions determined by second signal, and (v) a plurality of positioning servo-mechanisms 40, 42 setting the positions of the forward and reverse adjustable nozzle blades in accordance with the forward and reverse command signals respectively.
