Abstract

1355080 Aluminium salts of phosphate esters DOW CHEMICAL CO 14 May 1971 15091/71 Heading C2P [Also in Divisions C5 and E1] Aluminium salts of partial phosphoric acid esters having the general formula wherein n=2 to 0, m=1 to 3 and n+m=3, and R and R 1 are independently C 1 to C 20 alkyls or C 2 to C 20 alkenyls and/or alkynyls are incorporated in liquid hydrocarbons to decrease their internal friction under motion. Preferably R=C 1 to C 3 alkyl and R 1 =C 8 to C 10 alkyl. In an example methyldodecyl-o-phosphoric acid ester is made by reacting P 2 O 5 , methanol and dodecylalcohol in hexane, and this reacted with an Al(OH) 3 formed in situ by precipitation from Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 18H 2 O and NaOH.
