Abstract

1354470 Dyeing acrylonitrile polymers IM PERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 Nov 1971 [17 Dec 1970] 60049/70 Heading D1B Textile materials composed of polyacrylonitrile or of copolymers in which acrylonitrile is a major constituent are dyed with cationic dyes in presence of at least one iroceronium compound of formula I in which R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl groups, R 2 and R 3 may be hydrogen and may form part of a heterocyclic ring, R 4 may also be hydrogen or an amino group or COR 5 in which R 5 is an alkyl or benzyl or chloromethyl alkoxy group and HX is an organic or inorganic acid. The isouranium compound is preferably used as 0.1 to 15% by weight of the textile materials, neutral salts e.g. sodium and potassium chloride may also be used in the dyebath.
