Abstract

1354292 Electric furnaces EXCEL HEAT Ltd 12 Aug 1971 [12 May 1970] 22761/70 Heading H5H An electric furnace has radiant resistance heating elements 13 supported from the furnace casing 10 by brackets 14 of refractory material, e.g. alumina, the brackets 14 extending through the furnace lining 12 and being supported by the casing 10. The brackets are bolted or otherwise secured to vertical pillars 22 secured to one limb 20 of a channel member 18, 19, 20. The resistance elements 13 comprise helical coils mounted on or in supporting tubes. Instead of the triangular aperture in the bracket 14 for receiving the heating elements 13 the aperture may be open to one side of the bracket to form a hook into which the element 13 may be dropped. The casing 10 comprises an outer mild steel layer 15 and an inner insulating layer 16. The lining 12 comprises a main insulator 25 and a felt facing lining 26.
