Abstract

1353385 Balusters UTIL 22 July 1971 [23 July 1970] 34377/71 Heading E1B Balusters are built up of a plurality of parts 2, 3, 4 interconnected end toend and to end pieces 5, 9 and 10 by screw threaded rods 6 and 8. The bottom end of rod 8 is embedded in a step or other foundation. All the parts are preferably made of metal. The length of the parts 5 may be varied to vary the height of the baluster. In a modification, particularly suitable for intermediate balusters a rod having screw threaded ends extends completely through two frusto conical members 2 and an intermediate member 3 and has cylindrical members of various lengths screwed onto the opposite ends of the screw threaded rod. All the parts are preferably metal, examples being brass and wrought iron, and they may be gilded. (For Figure see next page)
