Abstract

1352477 Air sifters POLYSIUS AG 1 May 1972 [11 June 1971] 20070/72 Heading B2H In a circulatory air sifter having a central chamber 1, an outer chamber 4 and guide elements 12 disposed in the flow path of the air stream and adapted to impart a swirling movement to said air stream, the guide elements are formed as hollow bodies and are connected to a cooling medium system. The guide elements may consist of a ring of blades, each blade being adjustable in position and connected by flexible pipes to coolant inlet and outlet pipes arranged in the form of rings around the upper and lower ends, respectively, of said blades. The blades may be provided with ribs on their outer surfaces. In use, the material to be sifted is fed through a funnel 11 onto a rotating scatter plate 9 driven by a shaft 7 having its lower end mounted in a thrust bearing whose position can be adjusted by means 8. The fine material is entrained in the rising air stream produced by a fan 10 and is carried into the outer chamber 4 and removed through an outlet 3a. The air returns to the central chamber 1 and is given a swirling motion by the guide elements 12. Coarse material is removed through an outlet 13a.
