Abstract
1352424 Textile bleaching composition with antimicrobial action HENKEL & CIE GmbH 6 Aug 1971 [8 Aug 1970] 37006/71 Heading A5E [Also in Division D1] A textile bleaching composition with antimicrobial action comprises A 5-100% by weight of an antimicrobial component consisting essentially of:- (i) 0.05-25% by weight of wherein R 1 -R 8 are H, Cl, F or Br, R 1 may be OH, R 2 and R 6 may be Cn, R 3 and R 6 may be COOME or COOH and R 8 may be t-butyl (ii) 25-80% by weight of a per compound yielding H 2 O 2 in water e.g. NaBO 2 . H 2 O 2 . 3H 2 O and other perborates and peroxyhydrates of ortho-, pyro-, and poly-phosphates and of carbonates, with or without a per-stabiliser eg alkaline, earth metal such as Mg, Cd and Sn silicates, andby weight of an active oxygen (iii) 5-60% by weight of an active oxygen activator which is an N-acyl-or O-acyl compound containing acyl residues R.CO, in which R is hydrocarbon 1-8C, which may be substituted or a carbonic or pyrocarbonic acid ester with a specified minimum activation value, the amount of per-compound and activator being such that 0.05-2 mol of activator are present per gram atom of active oxygen, and B 95-0% 'by weight of other constituents. Specified activators of the O-acyl and N-acyl type are:-N-diacylated amines, N-alkyl N-sulphonyl carbonamides, N-acylhydantoins, cyclic N-acylhydrazides, triacyl cyanurates, anhydrides of benzoic or phthalic acids, O, N, N-trisubstituted hydroxylamines, N, N'- diacyl sulphuryl amides, 1, 3-diacyl-4, 5-diacyloxy-imidazolidines and acylated glycolurils. The bleaches may be formulated as soaking, prewashing, fine washing and complete washing compositions containing (i) anionic, non- ionic and amphoteric surfactants and soaps (ii) builders with or without complexing ability (iii) dirt carriers (iv) brighteners and (v) enzymes and (vi) foam stabilisers and foam inhibitors. Wool, cotton regenerated cellulose, linen, polyamide, polyester, polyacrylonitrile, polyurethane, PVC or polyvinylidene chloride materials may be bleached.
