Abstract

1352174 Aerosol silicone grease compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 8 June 1971 [29 June 1970] 19376/71 Heading C3T [Also in Divisions C4 and C5] An aerosol grease composition comprises an aerosol propellant and a silicone grease comprising (A) 50-98 wt. per cent of a liquid polysiloxane of viscosity 10-100,000 cS/25‹ C. and formula wherein m+n+p+q is 2À002-3À0, n is 0À50- 1-95, m is 0À5-1À0, p is 0-0À5, q is 0 to and R is a C 6 -C 20 alkyl radical, R<SP>1</SP> a t-butylsubstituted hindered hydroxyaryl radical and R<SP>11</SP> is a C 2 -C 5 alkyl radical, a C 5 -C 7 -ring cycloalkyl radical, a mononuclear or binuclear aryl radical, a mononuclear aryl C 1 -C 5 alkyl radical or a halogenated derivative of one of these, (B) 2-35 wt per cent of a thickener and (C) 0À01-2 wt. per cent of Zn as zinc naphthenate. There may also be present a polyalkylene oxide stabilizer up to 5 wt. per cent of the siloxane, and an organic solvent for the grease. In the examples greases are prepared from polysiloxanes containing 6-62 Si atoms, 0À65-0À95 C 8 -C 20 alkyl groups per Si, and in Examples 1 and 3, 0À0116 and 0À0148 hindered phenolic groups per Si, the remaining organic groups being CH 3 groups (their preparation being described), blended with Zn naphthenate, Li myristate and, in Examples 1-3, polyethylene-propylene glycol, N-phenyl-alphanaphthylamine and LiOH; 3 pbw of the grease of Example 2 are dissolved in 47 pbw of trichlorethylene and 50 pbw of a vinyl chloride / trichlorofluoromethane / dichlorodifluoromethane mixture to give an aerosol grease composition.
