1352092 Flavourings L GIVAUDAN & CIE SA 21 July 1972 [23 July 1971] 34221/72 Heading A2B [Also in Division C2] Novel flavouring agents comprise dioxolane derivatives of the general formula: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a (C 2 -C 6 ) alkyl or alkenyl group; R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen or a (C 1 -C 3 ) alkyl group; R<SP>3</SP> is a group of the formula -CHR<SP>4</SP> . CH(R<SP>5</SP>)(R<SP>6</SP>) or -CH=C(R<SP>5</SP>)(R<SP>6</SP>); R<SP>4</SP> is hydrogen or hydroxy; R<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are hydrogen or (C 1 -C 6 ) alkyl or alkenyl groups. Examples relate to the flavouring of an aroma composition comprising diacetyl, butyric acid, lactic acid, vanillin, butyric acid ethyl ester, heliotropin and benzaldehyde by adding 2-(1'-propenyl)-4-nbutyroxymethyldioxolane or 2-(methyl-2-(1'- hydroxyethyl)-4-n-butyroxymethyl dioxolane.
