Abstract

1351650 Yarn heaters HEATING ELEMENTS Ltd 10 July 1972 [14 Aug 1971] 38248/71 Heading D1F A yarn heater comprises a mounting 38, a heating element 8, and a drum shaped heating surface 4 non-rotatably secured to the mounting, surrounding the element 8 and consisting of an annular surface provided with a groove or grooves 18 for guiding the yarn, and a portion 16a adjacent one or both sides of the annular surface extending gradually outward in the radial direction of the drum so as to urge the yarn onto the annular surface. The heating element 8 is clamped against a heatsink 6 e.g. of brass, by plates 10. Dished clamping plates 34 are provided to locate the heating element and clamping plates 10 with the drum and the unit is secured to a frame 38 via insulating pads 40. The beating element 8 is electrical. Various combinations of grooves 18, flat portions 16b, and sloping portions 16a are described. (For Figures see next page)
