Abstract
1351506 Lamps R M GRAVEN 6 July 1971 [26 Aug 1970] 31588/71 Heading F4R [Also in Divisions G4 and B6] A light pen 23 is used to switch on or off a matrix 35 of light emitting diodes which form a drawing board 20. Each diode is connected to photo transistors in a modular circuit 26. When the end 87 of the light pen is pressed against the drawing board, contacts 92 are closed to enable a battery 99 to illuminate lamps 88. The lamps activate one of the photo transistors in the circuit 26 engaged by the pen to switch on the associated diode. By pressing the end 87<SP>1</SP> of the pen against the drawing board another photo transistor is actuated by lamps 88<SP>1</SP> to switch off the diode. Light guides 89 and an inking cartridge 96 are positioned at the "WRITE" end 87 of the pen whilst light guides 89<SP>1</SP> and an eraser 97 are positioned at the "ERASE" end 87<SP>1</SP> of the pen. A rheostat 52 controls the brightness of the lamps 88, 88<SP>1</SP>.
