Abstract
1350283 Enlarging apparatus KALLE A G 22 April 1971 [12 Oct 1970] 10809/71 Heading G2A An electro-photographic microfilm re-enlargement apparatus comprises a fixed image plane 9 a constant distance from a plane receiving a transparency 15 to be copied, a plurality of interchangeable lenses 19 of different focal lengths and means for displacing a mirror 21 to bring it into the appropriate position for the lens and enlargement factor selected. Sequence of Operations. To inspect an inserted negative 15, a key (76), Fig. 7, (not shown), is operated to move a mirror 26 into the position shown, open a diaphragm 27 and move a lamp 16 into the inspection position. Lens 23, prism 28 and mirrors 29, 30 are also used to produce an enlarged image on screen 25. This image is checked for position and content, translation and rotation of the negative support being effected, if necessary, by knobs (24). The key (76) is pressed again, and elements 16, 26, 27 revert to their copying positions. Data for the required number of copies, enlargement factor and sheet size is fed in, the apparatus being locked unless an admissible combination is selected. Such a combination results in movement of the lamp 16, lens turret 20 and mirror 21 to their prescribed positions by the shortest possible route, each of these elements being provided with a synchronous motor having a permanent magnet and being controlled by an induction switch, Figs. 2-4, (not shown). The exposure time is automatically changed over by selecting the enlargement factor. Actuating a start key (82) causes the coupling of that transport roller 4 which has been actuated by sheet size selection, and a magnet (64), Fig. 5, (not shown), of roller (63) to be switched on to feed the corresponding copy material from roll 1 or 2 through charging station 8. As the leading end of the web reaches an appropriate knife switch 66a, web feed stops and the web is severed. The sheet so formed advances until it trips the appropriate image stage 66b, preselected by the combination of enlargement factor and sheet size. An exposure is then made and the exposed copy is developed in a section 10 before being dried and ejected. The cycle is repeated until the required number of copies has been made.
