Abstract

1349420 Recirculating pump-flushed closets THETFORD CORP 3 Aug 1972 [17 Dec 1971] 36396/72 Heading E1C In a recirculating pump-flushed closet of the kind having a bowl 14 mounted in a tank 12 with its outlet 32 in communication with the interior of the tank, and an assembly 30 comprising a pump 40 and filter 36 for recirculating a flushing liquid to the bowl, an additional wire mesh filter 46 is provided which is in the form of a truncated cone with its upper end fitted around the bowl and its lower end fitted to the floor 22 of the tank so that the filter encloses the bowl outlet and surrounds a discharge opening 20 in the base of the tank. The filter consists of wire mesh 50 attached to a wire frame consisting of a lower elliptical ring 52, an upper ring 54 fitting around the bowl, and connecting members 56, the lower and upper ends of the wire mesh extending beyond the rings as flared portions. A flap 34 depending from the bowl outlet prevents waste being directed against the wire mesh as it is flushed from the bowl. A gate valve 24 normally closes the discharge opening 20.
