Abstract

1348507 Preparing demineralized or mineral waters INDUSTRIE A ZANUSSI SpA 19 April 1971 [9 March 1970 29 August 1970 14 Oct 1970] 23536/71 Heading C1C In an apparatus for producing demineralized water or artificial mineral water which may be carbonated, water is fed into container 104 to a predetermined level controlled by regulator 36, ice crystals are formed in evaporator 92 of a refrigerating system, the evaporator 92 is moved above container 111, the ice is melted by converting evaporator 92 to a heater by making the medium in the refrigerating system by-pass condenser 110, to produce demineralized water which is collected in container 111 and if artificial mineral water is desired, the demineralized water is mixed with salt from dispenser 112. If a carbonated water is desired the demineralized water or artificial mineral water is mixed with carbon dioxide in container 118, which contains an evaporator 121. The apparatus includes a timer mechanism (not shown) for controlling the operation of parts of the apparatus. The salt dispenser (Fig. 4) may contain a rotating wheel 220 with salt capsule-containing pockets formed by a composite strip 230, around its periphery, the salt capsules being discharged individually as the strip travels around wedge 236. In other embodiments the pockets are provided in the peripheral surface of the wheel and held therein by a strip or the wall of the casing in which the wheel is mounted, apart from the point adjacent the outlet of the dispenser.
